Q & A with Klaus Hünting

Klaus Hünting, 46 years old from Kleve in Germany. Klaus is a crew member of the Green Monster Pulling Team from Füchtorf in Germany and Farm Pulling track official at the German Tractor Pulling Association (DTTO). What are you doing in your normal life?
Klaus Hünting: Work as an agricultural scientist at an agricultural research and education center doing research about forage conservation. What do you like to do in your free time, except Tractor Pulling?
Klaus Hünting: Running a little beef cattle farm and in winter: hunting foxes, roe deer, wild boar and other game species. What do you like about Tractor Pulling?
Klaus Hünting: Can’t be described in just one word; for sure the power and the ability to control the power but as important is the friendship between all involved people aside of the competition on the track. What was your first Tractor Pulling event?
Klaus Hünting: Anholt (D), close to the place where I grew up and still live sometime in the early eighties; my dad took my brother and me there as we were kids. What is your favourite Event / Pulling track?
Klaus Hünting: For sure our “home pull” in Füchtorf (D); but there are a lot other Events around Europe where it is always a pleasure to participate there, too. When and where do you have driven a Pulling Tractor for the first time?
Klaus Hünting: Participated a few times on local Farm Stock pulls in the mid of the nineties with a stock farm tractor; the first time driving a real “Pulling Tractor” was the by that time called “T&I Terminator” John Deere limited Pro Stock at the Easter Pull 2000 in Quambatook, Australia. What was your biggest success?
Klaus Hünting: As part of the Green Monster Team for sure the European titles in 2007 and 2016;
personally it was an honor to me to be chosen as head track official at the first Farm Stock European Championships in Brande (DK) 2015. Which Pulling classes do you like too?
Klaus Hünting: Farm Stock and Pro Stocks; Diesels with hood/bonnet What was your biggest disappointment?
Klaus Hünting: The expectations at the maiden run of the Green Monster V – Mitas Edition for sure where higher than the realized 5 or what ever meters – finally it seems that the team got the tractor running
personally it is always disappointing being in charge and a track does not perform as expected even after a lot of effort was put into preparation. Which things must be changed in the future of the Tractor Pulling sport?
Klaus Hünting: In long term there should be an entry level Modified class in Europe following an identical rulebook to get new Teams at affordable budget into Modified Pulling What are your plans for the future in Tractor Pulling?
Klaus Hünting: Keep up with the work as helping hand in the Green Monster Team, the track official duties and whatever work/duties will appear in the sport in the future... What was for you the most important moment in the sport?
Klaus Hünting: Nothing special; What was your favourite Pulling Tractor project in the workshop during a winter?
Klaus Hünting: I really admire the effort of my teammates to build a tractor for the 2.5 t Modified class powered with two Allison engines. Something you want to say?
Klaus Hünting: Thank’s for the opportunity to state my options/ideas here and
CU somewhere on a Ppulling track Thank you for your time and good luck for the future !
