There are two reasons. They have understood that not everyone does like the diesel smoke in Europe and so even their sponsors, who were on their way and jumped off because of the diesel smoke, but stayed now when they converted to "more environmentally friendly" methanol.
The second reason was they also had major engine problems and then there were the big discussions about the cylinder heads on the Sisu engines in the Pro Stock class in Europe.
increased from 7.4l to 7.6l. Because of the displacement change the power plant also needed a set of new Sisu rods and pistons. Also the head was machined and received some new injector nozzles and spark plugs. The power plant also received a MSD 8 ignition with NGK spark plugs and Willem Veldhuizen of Veldhuizen Special Products (VSP) from Loosdrecht, in the Netherlands has built the new alcohol fuel system with the Waterman fuel pump for the engine. The new fuel tank was drawn by VSP and built by Henrik Törngren from Sweden. The intake and exhaust manifold is completely new built and the new billet Holset HX 82 turbocharger with the 4.25" intake wheel comes from VSP. The valves, the valve springs, the camshaft and the oil pump were took over of the diesel engine. All those parts come from Pekka Herlevi of Diesellandia from Kälviä in Finland. Last but not least, the machine got a RPM data logger to evaluate the engine data.
The Countdown Pulling Team around Christian Ruden will compete on the Swedish Pulling tracks this season. But before the alky burner goes back to Sweden, Willem Veldhuizen will make the first test passes in front of the sledge in the Netherlands to figure out the right engine settings. The maiden run of the Valtra on alcohol in Sweden is planned for the 19th of May 2018, at the Swedish Championship and Euro Cup round in Lidköping.
