pullingworld.com: What are you doing in your normal life?
Brent Payne: I am the owner of Gene’s Machine Shop, Inc. We build engine and driveline parts for tractor pulling.

pullingworld.com: What do you like to do in your free time, except Tractor Pulling?
Brent Payne: In my free time, my family and I like to go boating or camping. We also enjoy traveling around the US and Europe.

pullingworld.com: What do you like about Tractor Pulling?
Brent Payne: Tractor Pulling has been in me for all of my life. My Dad has always been a fan and puller so I followed him. I enjoy the competition and the technical ideas. Mostly, I enjoy the different people we get to meet and the places we are able to see.

pullingworld.com: What was your first Tractor Pulling event?
Brent Payne: I really can't remember… I started going to pulls when I was just a baby!

pullingworld.com: What is your favorite Event / Pulling track?
Brent Payne: Fort Recovery, Ohio has always been a favorite for me since I was a little guy. For the past few years, we have been traveling to Benson, North Carolina. Of course, the Galot Motorsports track is the home of our team, but I really enjoy visiting and pulling there.

pullingworld.com: When and where do you have driven a Pulling Tractor for the first time?
Brent Payne: I started pulling pedal tractors when I was 3 years old. Next on a garden tractor at 13 and on to antiques at 14. My first super stock experience was at 16 years old in Burlington, Kentucky.

pullingworld.com: What was your biggest success?
Brent Payne: My pulling career has been very good so far. As a Galot Motorsports driver, I have won Tomah, Bowling Green, Louisville, and many others. I also have a Bowling Green ring. I have also had the privilege of pulling in Ahoy Stadium (NL) (European Superpull) two times in my career (Color of Money & Galot). One of the most memorable successes was being the driver of the winning Pro Stock (Mud Patrol) in the European Championships in Alphen (NL). Being involved with the NTPA for many years, I have been Rookie of the Year, Mechanic of the Year, and Crew Chief of the year.  All amazing rewards for not only me, but for the team as well.

pullingworld.com: Which Pulling classes do you like too?
Brent Payne: I really like super stock. modifieds are probably my second favorite.

pullingworld.com: What was your biggest disappointment?
Brent Payne: No Grand National Championship points title… yet.

pullingworld.com: Which things must be changed in the future of the Tractor Pulling sport?
Brent Payne: Well pulling in Europe is moving very fast. I like many of the ideas I see when visiting a pull there. In the US, the sport needs to be adapted to the current times. Our fan base needs to be re-energized to love the sport again. I feel the horsepower is growing too fast for most teams to stay competitive so we must for the correct limitations.

pullingworld.com: What are your plans for the future in Tractor Pulling?
Brent Payne: Pulling is my business, but also my life… and my family’s life. We plan on being involved in pulling from now on. I would like to continue innovation. I would also like to keep helping teams become better pullers.

pullingworld.com: What was for you the most important moment in the sport?
Brent Payne: I cannot say I have a most important moment. There have been some significant times for me that have changed my direction. Many years ago I set a goal of making money in the sport of Pulling. So many people told me this was not possible. The moments of doubt in others created fuel for my fire to move forward in the sport.

pullingworld.com: What was your favorite Pulling Tractor project in the workshop during a winter?
Brent Payne: I really like to design and engineer new products. Creating some new idea or concept, manufacturing it, and testing on the track are exciting to me.

pullingworld.com: Something you want to say?
Brent Payne: The most important thing to remember is that “I” did not accomplish these things on my own. It takes a team to get the vehicles to the track and to win events. I have been blessed with an amazing team at Gene’s Machine Shop and Galot Motorsports. We work hard as a group of individuals chasing a goal.

pullingworld.com: Thank you for your time and good luck for the furture!
