pullingworld.com: What are you doing in your normal life?
Thomas Mathmann: I am working on a lathe and a milling machine in a machine shop for separating machines.
pullingworld.com: What do you like to do in your free time, except Tractor Pulling?
Thomas Mathmann: When there is free time near the Tractor, i try to meet friends, try to take time for my girlfriend and hopefully one day i find time to finish my Oldtimer Car.....😍
But during Pulling season mostly the Deutz destroys my plans...
pullingworld.com: What do you like about Tractor Pulling?
Thomas Mathmann: At first the technical things, to find a solution to produce difficult parts mostly on non CNC lathe or mills, to build my or our ideas near the cookie cutter parts most other Teams buy or use...
And for sure the friendship in the sport between many teems over Europe....
pullingworld.com: What was your first Tractor Pulling event?
Thomas Mathmann: Ohh i am not sure, but i think Füchtorf (D) in the late 80's, or very early 90's.
pullingworld.com: What was your biggest success?
pullingworld.com: Which Pulling classes do you like too?
pullingworld.com: What was your biggest disappointment?
Thomas Mathmann: Oh there is not only one.....
Maybe EC in Brande (DK) 2015 was very bad in all points from our view and for sure Edewecht last year....worked hard the half season to get it running again.....Friday evening first noice Saturday evening last noice.....
pullingworld.com: Which things must be changed in the future of the Tractor Pulling sport?
pullingworld.com: What are your plans for the future in Tractor Pulling?
pullingworld.com: What was your favourite Pulling Tractor project in the workshop during a winter?
pullingworld.com: Something you want to say?
Thomas Mathmann: I hope we all can make this great sport for a long time,
And have more individualists to come in the future, especially here in Germany to have more and better competition!
pullingworld.com: Thank you for your time and good luck this year !

pullingworld.com: Which things must be changed in the future of the Tractor Pulling sport?
Thomas Mathmann: I think we must be find solutions to get the sport cheaper because when i look in Germany, Teams in Super Stock, Pro Stock and Modified were only a few, there have been much more in the past....so its all too expensive....but people like me look to the top Teams and than....shit happens we try to catch them all the time, so I do it wrong by my self....🙈
pullingworld.com: What are your plans for the future in Tractor Pulling?
Thomas Mathmann: Bring the Deutz back on track in 2018 and hope to keep it in good condition for a complete season. And for sure to have a big success on European circuit one day!
Thomas Mathmann: After Füchtorf (D) this year!
Engine broken. And to see how many fans we have and going to help us to see "their Tractor" again! 👌

pullingworld.com: What was your favourite Pulling Tractor project in the workshop during a winter?
Thomas Mathmann: To build the quattro turbo kit winter 16/17.
Had an idea in my head, and build it from exhaust system to complete modified chargers all by my self.
And than too see how amazing it works! 😎

New Mini Rod in Finland
From Askola, in Finland, the Finnish Sniper Pulling Team around Jarmo Leikkola are building a new 950kg / 2095lbs. Mini Rod Tractor with an Transmash V12 tank engine at the moment. After the sell of the old Ford V8 turbocharged Mini Mod called ,,Another Grave Digger´´ to Germany, the finnish Team decided to built a completely new Tractor with an engine, who was never used on a Mini Modified vehicle, because of the weight in the past. Jarmo and his crew started with the new project in the winter of 2015 / 2016 in their workshop in Askola. One was sure before the building progress started, because of the heavy weight of the Russian V12 engine, everything must built so light as possible. The new Mini Rod receives a homemade Docol R8 tube frame with a homemade 25CrMo4 Rollcage, a homemade steering, homemade fenders and a Iveco / Vreeman Special Parts (VSP) rearend.
The Team will make the homemade fenders from carbon fiber. The new rearend will have a stock Iveco ring and pinion gear, a homemade aluminium center section with a Iveco diff, homemade axle tubes, shorted Iveco half shafts and homemade brake discs with Brembo calipers. The rear axle housing was built by Bennie Vreeman of Vreeman Special Parts in Neede, the Netherlands. Because of the weight, the new Mini Mod will have no transmission, only a new built homemade light weight driveshaft from the clutch to the center section of the rear axle. The Tractor receives a new 11´´ inch aluminium centrifugal clutch with 3 discs, a aluminium fly wheel and a Trick Titanium clutch bell housing. The new centrifugal clutch will built by Eagle Clutches (Christer Örn) from Kunimek in Finland.
Jarmo purchased by the Dirty Herrie Pulling Team in the Netherlands a set of used aluminium rims with old Firestone Mini Mod tires for the new vehicle.
The new Finnish Sniper will have a Transmash V12 engine with 38.88l / 2373cui. capacity on methanol fuel. The Russian Transmash engine comes out of an T54 tank and runs normally on diesel fuel. The weight of the original engine is almost 1000kg. The Team took a lots of weight off the V12 engine. Almost every original part was machined to save weight. The power plant will have a machined stock Transmash block with lighter stock sleeves, a lighter stock crankshaft, original Transmash rods with original modified aluminium pistons, revised and lighter made Transmash cylinder heads with original camshafts, new better valves and stronger valve springs, homemade carbon fiber valve covers, 12 homemade carbon fiber intake pipes (1 each cylinder with 1 butterfly), a Veldhuizen Special Products methanol fuel system, a fuel canister as a fuel tank, a homemade carbon fiber oil pan, a CDI ignition with 500 mj spark energy and a MS3 data logger. After some modifications, the MS3 data logger can not only measure some data, the system also can control the ignition. The oil pump on the completely overhauled engine also isn´t original anymore. The oil pump will replace by a much lighter RR Meteor oil pump. The old original fuel nozzles in the cylinder heads will remote and replaced by spark plugs, because the engine running on methanol now. The calculations for the completely fuel system were made by Willem
Veldhuizen of Veldhuizen Special Products from Loosdrecht, in the
Netherlands.
The maiden voyage of the new Finnish Sniper is planned for the end of the 2018 Pulling season in Finland.
The Finnish Sniper Pulling Team would also like to give a big thanks to their sponsors Turkhaudan Monitoimi and Mil - Safarit for the support !

The new Nr.5
Michael Fahrendorf, together with his father Ewald Fahrendorf and his brother in law Philip Godenschwager from Wietmarschen, in Germany are working on a new 600kg Modified Tractor at the moment. In the end of 2015, after 2 German Championship titles with his 500kg Modified Garden Puller called ,,ZwanzigZehn´´, he decided to built a completely new Garden Puller for the 600kg Modified class. The new vehicle has a completely new homemade steel wedge frame with a homemade roll cage, a steering out of a Smart car and a Dana 35 rearend. The new aluminium fenders of the project are homemade. The roll cage is off the 500kg Modified Tractor called ,,Special Made´´ of Philip Godenschwager.
The Dana 35 rear axle has an original center section with a Dana stock diff, a Dana 35 ring and pinion gear, reduced Dana shafts, a home made individual wheel brake system with motorcycle parts and homemade brake disks. The clutch of the new mod is a 3 disc Tilton centrifugal clutch with a size of 7.25´´ inch and a homemade steel fly wheel. The new bell housing of the clutch is self constructed and homemade from steel. The tractor also got a new homemade driveline with a special built light weight reverser. The new reverser has a CNC-milled housing with special made gears. The complete reverser was constructed and machined by Stefan Schwarz of the Ghost Buster Pulling Team from Oberharmersbach, in Germany.
Michael purchased a set of new Real Wheel aluminium rims with 31x15.50-15´´ Dick Cepek Giant Puller tyres from the USA for his new project.
The new Nr.5 will have a turbocharged 5 cylinder Volvo power plant with 2.5l capacitiy on petrol fuel. The engine has a original Volvo block with a stock Volvo head, stonger valves and valve springs, a newly grinded Volvo camshaft, a homemade intake and exhaust manifold, a Garret GT 35 turbocharger, racing rods and revised pistons, a homemade fuel tank, a stock fuel system with a electronic fuel pump, an original oil pump, a Voltcraft 4 channel data logger and a MSD ignition from the USA.
Michael Fahrendorf and his Team will compete in the German Championship in the future. The maiden run of the new Nr.5 Tractor isn´t known at the moment.
