The new Claas Component Super Sport of Team Bruggeman is ready !

The Bruggeman Pulling Team around Niels, Bjorn and Roy Bruggeman from Broekland, in the Netherlands have finished their new Claas Axion 880 Component Super Sport Tractor for the 4.5t / 9920lbs class. It´s the first Claas Tractor for the 4.5t Super Sport division in Europe. The Dutch guys started with the building process of the new ride in December of 2016. Normely the maiden run of the new machine was planned for the Indoor Pull in Assen last year, but a lots of other work in their own agricultural machinery workshop (Bruggeman sell and repair Claas tractors) and the waiting for new parts for the new vehicle have made it impossible to get the tractor ready for the 2018 season.
Back to the technical things: The new tractor received a completely new steel wedge frame with a new homemade three bar steel rollcage, a Kirkey Racing drivers seat, a modified Rockwell rearend, a completely new constructed drawbar and a homemade hydraulic steering. The new frame with the modified rearend was built by Zeinstra Chassis (Zeinstra Pulling Team) in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, the Netherlands.
The drivers and the engine position on the new Tractor is more forward compared to their old John Deere 7930 Super Sport. The Team hopes to get a better balance with the new Component chassis in the future. Another advantage of the Component Tractor is, they have much more movable weight, what give them more opportunities to find the right balance for difficult track conditions.
The new Claas Axion 880 hood comes from the current Axion 800 series and the fenders were purchased from the Rough and Tumble Pulling Team in the Netherlands. The sheetmetal work on the chassis and the hood were done by the company ´´Jansen Carrosseriebouw´´ from Wespe, in the Netherlands.
For a good traction on the Dutch pulling tracks, they purchased a set of new cut Michelin 650/60 R 38 Xeobib tyres on steel rims. The tyres were cut by Hans Heesakers from the Netherlands.
The modified Rockwell rearend got a Rockwell stock center section with a billet aluminium differential, a Rockwell ring and pinion gear, Rockwell planetaries carrier housing with ZF planetaries and new brake calipers with new steel brake discs. The drivetrain has a new Profab 3 speed transmission with a homemade drive shaft, a 12" inch Crower centrifugal clutch with 4 discs, a original fly wheel from a CAT C9 engine and a clutch bell housing built by Zeinstra Chassis.
The new Component Super Sport is powered by a turbocharged 6 cylinder Caterpillar C9 engine with 24 valves on diesel fuel. The CAT C9 engine was used in the old Claas Xerion 3300 and 3800 tractors from the 2nd generation. The 3300 was built by Claas between 2004 and 2012 and the 3800 between 2007 and 2013. The engine has a original displacement of 8.8l, but because of the 8.3l displacement limit in this class, the american power plant needed some smaller sleeves and pistons.
The engine has a Caterpillar C9 stock block with new Westwood sleeves, a standard CAT C9 crankshaft with billet rods and Zetor pistons, a homemade intake and exhaust manifold, a revised CAT C9 head, a regrinded CAT C9 camshaft, a Holset HX82 turbocharger, a new aluminium air / water intercooler, a Aviaid Stage 4 oil pump with Kaiser Performance (KP) oil filters, a Sigma diesel fuel injection pump with 17mm elements made by ODS Diesel Performance, billet dual feet injectors by Columbus Diesel Supply from the USA and a homemade fuel tank. The cylinder head of the power plant was flowed by Barend Huijbregts of the Rocky Pulling Team from Hoeven, in the Netherlands. The new intercooler sits on the front end of the tractor in the chassis.
The new Claas Axion 8XX had it´s maiden voyage at the Indoor Pull in Zwolle, February this year. It wasn´t a problem free maiden run for the new Component Tractor. After a good start, the power of the engine went down and the power plant went off. Back in the pits they found the problem. The bolts and nuts, who connect the sigma fuel pump and driveline for the pump came loose because of the vibrations of the engine. A small problem with great effect. The problem will fixed for the next event by new bolts with self-locking nuts.
The Bruggeman Pulling Team has announced to compete with their new machine in the Dutch Championship this year.

The new Brothers Toy is ready !

After more than 2 1/2 years of building, the new 7700lbs / 3.5t Component Limited Super Stock Tractor called ,,Brothers Toy´´ of the Vos brothers from Nieuwleusen, in the Netherlands is ready. After 2 years in the 5500lbs / 2.5t Light Modified class and the huge blow up of their turbocharged DAF 1260XF truck alky burner engine in Stroe, the Netherlands 2016, they decided because of the huge damage and the high costs not to rebuilt the Light Mod. Because of the Compact Diesel Pulling experience, a Pro Stock Tractor also was a possibility, but from financial point was that too expensive for the Team. After more considerations a Limited Super Stock was the best way for the future, also from financial view and they could use a lots of old parts of the old Light Modified Tractor, like the turbos, fuel system etc.
They started with the planning of the new machine in the end of 2016 on the computer. The Massey Ferguson was completely built on CAD by Berrie Boer of the Screamin' Bobcat Pulling Team from Ijsselmuiden in the Netherlands. Berrie also constructed on CAD the old Brothers Toy Light Modified Tractor of the Team in the past.
For the Limited Super Stock they have choose a new Massey Ferguson 7600 series hood. Also the fenders come from the current 7600 series.
The new Tractor received a completely new Domex 700 wedge frame with a new chrome-moly ROP, a homemade hydraulic steering, a new constructed drawbar and a machined Rockwell rearend. The parts for the Domex wedge frame were laser cut and bent by Tosec B.V in Zwolle, the Netherlands. The rest of the sheet metal work on the chassis and glass fibre work on the hood were made by the Team himself. The hood and the fenders were painted by Buitenhuis Straal en Spuitbedrijf, in the Netherlands. The rest of the parts like the chassis, cage, brackets etc are currently at the same company to get their colour. The Rockwell rearend was shortened and got a Humpco billet aluminium center section with a Humpco billet aluminium diff, a Humpco ring and pinion gear, aluminium planetaries carrier housing with special made MAN planetaries and Van der Waal Pulling Parts aluminium brake calipers with new steel brake rotors. The Dutch Team will use on the new MF 7600 a set of new polished Keizer aluminium rims with new 24.5-32 Firestone Puller 2000 HP tires. Those new Puller 2000 tires were cut by CM Pulling Tires from Reynolds, Indiana in the USA.
Also completley new is the drivetrain with a lots of good parts. The transmission in the vehicle comes from Humpco in the USA, Bennie Vreemann of Vampire Gears from Neede in the Netherlands has manufactured the driveline and the 11´´ inch centrifugal clutch with 4 discs from Molinari received a Eagle Clutches fly wheel and a Browell aluminium bell housing for the protection.
The new Brothers Toy is powered by a newly built turbocharged 6 cylinder Sisu power plant with 24 valves and 7l capacity on methanol fuel.
The engine got a machined Sisu 620 block, with new Sisu sleeves, a revised Sisu stock head with a steel camshaft, original Sisu valves and Ferrea valve springs, a billet Holset HX 82 turbocharger with a 4.25´´ inch intake impeller wheel, a self built steel intake and exhaust manifold, a STD Sisu stock crankshaft with new hardened Sisu rods, original Zetor pistons, a homemade fuel tank, a VSP (Veldhuizen Special Product) methanol fuel injection system with a Sassy Racing fuel pump, a Peterson oil pump, a MSD 8 ignition and a Racepak data logger.
The maiden run of the new Massey Ferguson wasn´t successful at the Indoor Pull in Zwolle. On the start the Sisu engine made good rpm´s, but after a few meters, the power plant started to backfire and went off. Back in the workshop, they dismanteled the Sisu engine and found some bent valves and a damaged camshaft. They found out, at high rpms the valves started to swimming and that isn't very healthy for the power plant. The valve springs will now new adjusted and the damaged cams of the camshaft will repaired. The Brothers Toy Pulling Team will compete with their new Component Limited Super Stock Tractor in Dutch National Championship and maybe on some pulls outside of the Netherlands this year.

New colour and name for Zapo

As we know, the former Dutch Component Super Stock machine called ``Zapo´´ was sold to Paul Siebers from Kleve, in Germany last year. The Tractor received now a new look, a new name and some little technical changes. During the winter, the sheet metal around the chassis was renewed, new wider front wheels were mounted and new brackets for the front weight on the front end of the New Holland were built. The metal work were done by Korgel maschinenbau (company owner Rainer Korgel is a team member of the Pulling Team Kleve) in Kleve, Germany. After those work the vehicle went to the painter and got a new look. The colour sheme was changed from New Holland blue to Paul Siebers company (Gebr. Siebers Tiefbau GmbH) colour yellow. The paintjob and the sticker work were done by the local company called ``Car Lack Goch´´ in Germany. Last but not least the machine received a new name. The Super Stock is called ``Yellow Dream´´ now.
The maiden voyage under German flag was at the Indoor Pull in Zwolle, the Netherlands. With the support by the old owners Theo Broekhuis and Bennie Harmelink, Paul Siebers made 2 nice passes in front of the crowd and finished on a great 3rd place in his first Super Stock competition. He was really pleased with his result in Zwolle. Paul and his Team will compete with their New Holland alky burner Super Stock in the German Championship and in the Euro Cup this season.
The Pulling Team Kleve have at the 14th and 15th of September 2019 their own German Championship round in Kalkar with all Garden Pulling classes, different Farm Stock classes, Super Stock, Trucks and some guest starter.

New Chassis for Wild Thing

The Wild Thing Pulling Team around Stefan Kronvall and his daughter Anna Kronvall from Ystad, in Sweden have built a new 950kg / 2095lbs Mini Modified Tractor during the winter of 2018 / 2019.
After 3 years with the wedge chassis of the old Nasty Toy, they have decided to built a new chassis and to make some changes on the Tractor. The old chassis was too heavy and the balance wasn't so good anymore. The new Wild Thing received a completely new Docol tube frame with a Docol rollcage, a rack and pinion steering and a Rockwell F106 rearend with TRB Machine Inc. parts from the USA. They think the new tube frame should be better than the old one. Compared to the old frame, the drivers position on the new Docol tube frame is more forward and the center of gravity is much lower. Also the V8 engine sits more forward on the new frame.
The Swedish Team hopes to get a better balance with those changes in the future.
The new chassis was constructed and built by Emil and Olof Roth of the Nasty Toy Pulling Team from Ljungbyhed in Sweden. The new fenders on the Mini are homemade. The new ones were made off polycarbonate and they are lighter than the old aluminium fenders of the old Tractor.
The Rockwell F106 rearend has a TRB billet aluminium center section with a TRB aluminium diff, a Rockwell F106 ring and pinion gear and Willwood brake calipers with Willwood brake discs. The rear wheels on the new ride are a set of used Real Wheel aluminium rims with new cut Pioneer Giant Puller tires. The new drivetrain received a SCS reverser with a new homemade driveline and a Probell 11´´ inch centrifugal clutch with a Probell aluminium bell housing. The SCS reverser and the renewed clutch come from the old Wild Thing Mini Mod.
The new Wild Thing is powered by a blown BAE V8 Hemi engine on methanol fuel.
The power plant has a billet BAE aluminium block with a Winberg crank, Darton sleeves, MGP billet aluminium rods and Sassy Racing pistons, Veney aluminium heads, a Sassy Racing camshaft, a SSI 14-71 blower with a Enderle big & ugly scoop, a homemade aluminium fuel tank, a Sassy Racing fuel system with a Sassy Racing fuel pump, a homemade aluminium oil pan with a P&P oil pump and a MSD 44 Pro Mag ignition. The V8 Hemi engine also was taken over of the old Mini Mod and was completely dismantled and checked during the winter time.
The Wild Thing Pulling Team will compete with their new Mini Modified vehicle in the Swedish Championship and in the Euro Cup this season.

PPL 2018: Super Modifieds tractors pulling at the America's Pull

R.I.P John Mumma

On February 13, 2019 the tractor pulling sport has lost another great man and competitor. ITPA vice president and 2WD Truck puller John Mumma, 67 years old from Philo, Illinois lost his life in a tragic car accident on his way to the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, Kentucky. John was a competitor in the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League of the Super Modified Two Wheel Drive category and won 2 titles with the 2WD Truck called ,,Rhino AG After Midnight´´ in 2012 and 2013.
He also competed successful on the ITPA pulling tracks in his home state Illinois, were he finished 3rd in the point standings last year.
John was a ambassador and advocate of the sport, just as importantly he was a mentor and advisor to many who sought his extensive experience and wisdom about the sport.
One is sure, competitors, organisers and the fans of the pulling sport will defnetly sorely miss him in the future. John will always in the mind of the people and will never be forgotten.

Our thoughts are with the whole family and the Midnight Motorsports Pulling Team. We wish them a lot of strength to cope with this terrible loss !
