Wekerom cancelled

Not so good news came from the Netherlands last weekend. The Dutch Championship opener for the Farm Stock classes on the 27th of April 2024 in Wekerom was cancelled due to much rain during the last week. The main problem for the cancelation of the event was that the terrain was not passable due to the wet conditions. Another reason was the not drier forecast for this week.

Here is the statement from the organization of the pull:
This morning, with pain in our hearts, we at STPW unfortunately had to decide that the match on King's Day cannot take place. So much rain has fallen in recent days that we cannot drive on the land with any equipment. And with the forecast for the coming week, it won't get any drier. We also think it is a shame, but we see no other solution. The photos say enough....

US Guestpullers at Made's Powerweekend 2024

On the 15th of February, the organization of Europe's biggest tractor pulling event in Made, the Netherlands have published on Facebook, that they have invited again a guestpuller from oversea for their event in 2024. They have invited Hans Boxler Jr from Varysburg, New York in the USA with his Case IH Magnum Diesel Super Stock called "The Special".
Hans Boxler Jr is a not unknown person in the US Pulling Scene. He, together with his late dad Hans Sr. competed with their red diesel super stock tractors in the state of New York as well on National level in the NTPA Grand National in the past.
Due to a lot of work on his dairy farm, Hans Jr. competed mainly on the State Level and on just a few NTPA Grand National events, like Bowling Green, Ohio with his Case IH diesel super stock during the last years. The diesel super stock machine has a component chassis with a Case IH Magnum Hood on it and is powered by a 6 cylinder IH engine with 540 cui and 3 turbochargers on Diesel fuel.
But the Diesel Super Stock "The Special" is not the only pulling tractor in his shed.
He also owns a Modified tractor with 2 Allison-V1710 V12 engines, which is called "Thumper 2". He bought this tractor a couple of years ago from Tom Durfee in New York and now competes with the twin Allison in the Empire State Pullers Association.
One is sure it will be a very interesting competition in the Super Stock class in Made and of course Hans Boxler Jr will give his run for the money against the European Alky burner super stock machines.
''The Special'' will be the first diesel super stock from the USA in Europe since Esdon Lehn with Red Line Fever at the European Superpull in 1998.
A couple of weeks after the announcement of The Special coming to Made, there was another US guestpuller announced for the 2024 Made's Powerweekend.
The second pulling tractor which was invited to the pull, was the mini modified tractor called ''Spending Their Inheritance of Mike and Mary Kehl from Strykersville in the State of New York. By most of the pulling Insiders is the mini modified tractor known since the spectacular crash at the Ocala Tractor Pull in Florida in 2023. After the crash, the tractor has received a new tube chassis from Modern Machine & Tool and a completely overhauled BAE V8 Hemi engine with a Mike Janis 14-71 blower and injector scoop. The Team around Mike and Mary Kehl started with tractor pulling in the mini modified class in 2018. In 2017, they bought the Advanced Chassis of Richard Peters old Buckeye Special and a used BAE V8 Hemi engine from Unlimited Modified Puller Joe Eder from Langford, New York. With the help of Joe Eder and Irv Clark they put the tractor together to get it ready to go.  Over the following years, the team become with their ''Spending Their Inheritance'' a real force to be reckoned with in the mini mod division in the NTPA Region Series. In 2021, they missed the NTPA Region 2 South title by just a single point behind the mini called ''WAE Flip Side''.
Another success followed in 2022, when Mary Kehl won the NTPA Region 4 title in the mini class. But their biggest success achieved the Team at the Enderle Pull Off in Urbana, Ohio last year. Mary Kehl won the mini modified competition against the other minis of the different NTPA Region Series.
For Mary and Mike Kehl is Made not the first trip to Europe. Already in 2019, they travelled together with Joe Eder, Hans Boxler Jr and many other people off the US Pulling Scene across the pond to the European Superpull in Ahoy, Rotterdam. That was the first time that Mary and Mike Kehl saw Tractor Pulling in Europe as spectators.
The US mini mod Spending their Inheritance will compete against the Dutch mini modified tractors on Saturday, and it will be very exciting to watch where the team will end up in the ranking at the end.

We also have received a message from Hans Boxler jr about his journey to Made's Powerweekend:
''My Family, and Team are very excited for our trip to Made. The Special is almost ready to go!
This trip will be a highlight of my career in tractor pulling. I have been pulling for 50 years. Have competed in over 100 pulling venues in 15 states and Canada. Pulling in Made Netherlands is a dream come true, and I see it at an Honor to be invited to such a prestigious event!''

Best Regards, Hans

And as well, we have received a message from Mary and Mike Kehl about their journey to Made's Powerweekend:
"Our team is very excited and truly honored to be chosen to compete at the Power Weekend in Made, Netherlands. Mary and I attended the Ahoy event in 2019 with Joe Eder and several others, and never dreamed we would be selected to compete at a European event.  We are also excited about our US teammates, the Boxler family, traveling with us! Hans and his family are friends of ours and have many years of pulling experience under their belt too. Growing up I remember many events watching Hans Sr. pulling at local venues in and around our area. That same Boxler family I'm sure played a role in hooking us on tractor pulling, for sure! Our team is looking forward to seeing old friends and making many new ones in Made, see you in June!”
