No European Superpull anymore!

On Monday morning a sad message of the organization of the European Superpull in Rotterdam, the Netherlands was to read on their Facebook page and website. After 41 editions of the famous European indoor pull in the Ahoy hall, the organization has announced that the traditional European Superpull will no longer take place in the future. The reason for that decision was the gradually declined interest in the event in recent years. Every year people from all over the world came to watch the indoor event in Rotterdam. The European Superpull was also known for its guest pullers from the USA.

Every year since 1978, the organization invited guest pullers from the US pulling scene (except 2012 and 2015). The most interesting thing at that event was always the fight between the top European pulling tractors and the US guest pullers in the different classes. The last US guest was NTPA Grand National Champion Joe Eder from North Collins, New York with his unlimited mod and mini mod called ''Polar Air'' in 2019. But not only US modified tractors were invited to the pull, also Super Stock and Pro Stock tractors, two wheel drive trucks and a semi truck were there in the past.

The official statement of the organization of the European Superpull: 

The traditional indoor tractor pulling event European Superpull will no longer take place. 

Although a very loyal group of fans came to the event every year, interest has gradually declined in recent years. The organization has explored the future possibilities for European Superpull, but there is insufficient basis to revive the event.

The organization of European Superpull regrets the decision, given the long history of the event. Since 1978, the event has been associated with Ahoy, which amounts to no fewer than 41 editions. The founders Gerrit Alting, Jan Post and Maurits Immink were ahead of their time by organizing an American-style indoor event in the Sportpaleis in Ahoy. Over the years, it became a fixture on the pulling team calendar and more indoor events were added, in addition to the well-known pulling competitions in the summer season.

Jolanda Jansen, General Manager Rotterdam Ahoy: “It is a difficult decision. The future possibilities have been explored in the past year and unfortunately we have had to conclude that there is currently insufficient basis to keep the concept viable. However, we look back with great pride on the 41st beautiful editions that took place in Ahoy.”

The European Superpull team, Jan Buitenhuis and all those involved from Rotterdam Ahoy, NTTO and volunteers, would like to thank all fans for the years of enthusiasm and support.

The nonprofit organization ''Autocrosser Helfen mit'' will raffle 4 sets of tractor pulling models in a scale of 1:32. Each set consists out of 3 different models. In the set are the modified tractors ''Green Monster Stage 4'' and ''Erlkönig'' and the Deutz-Allis super stock machine ''Dschinni Evolution'' plus to every tractor an action picture of the original tractor in a size of 10x15. Those models are provided by Dieter Veddler. Dieter is the man behind those pulling models. The raffle is also supported by Tobias Hörstkamp of the Green Monster Pulling Team, Matthias Vogelsang of the Erlkönig Pulling Team, Thomas Mathmann of the Dschinni Pulling Team, Stephan Görtz of pullingpics.com and the Voice of Race ''Ulf Schnackenberg''.

One raffle ticket costs 10 €, multiple raffle ticket purchases are of course possible. 

The raffle ticket sale ends on October 3rd, 2021 at 12 pm and the live video raffle is on the same day at 7 pm CET on their Facebook page. All the money for the raffle will donated to the flood victims in Ahrtal, Germany.

New NTPA rules for 2022

From ntpapull.com: New NTPA Rules for 2022: The following items were approved by the WPI/NTPA Joint Executive Board at the Fall Meeting on September 19, 2021.

 

Safety

• All helmets must be Snell 2015 or newer

Pull Off

• Eliminate rules 8 and 9 on pg. 88 related to pulloff per proposed agenda item

Diesel Fuel

• Dielectric constant reading increased to 150 / 13.4 based on meter used.

Limited Pro Stock

•  Steel billet cylinder head(s) allowed.

Classic Super Stock

•  Classic Super Stock class now a recognized Regional National class.

Limited Light Super Stock

• Engine

13. Maximum of 410 cubic inches for single turbo charged diesel engines, intercoolers allowed. This engine combination can run a maximum of (1) 3x4 turbo with MAF enhancements, 0.200 MAF enhancements. No forward facing MAF OR (1) 3.4x4 smooth bore turbo.
 

14. Maximum of 470 cubic inches for single turbo charged diesel engines. No intercoolers allowed. (The 478 Hercules engine will be legal to run in its factory combination 0% variance on CID). This engine combination can run a maximum of one (1) 3.4 x 4 smooth bore turbo OR (1) 3x4 turbo with MAF enhancement of 0.200 MAF enhancement. No forward facing MAF.

• Front Axle Suspension – approved for this class.

Pro Farm

• Turbocharger – require 3” smooth bore (intake and exhaust) turbo.
• Rule 5 - 3” intake and exhaust slug option eliminated.

Mini Rod

• Stabilizer Bars: Center of stabilizer bar pad must extend 2” behind tire.

Light Unlimited

• Two-engine limit removed from class rules.
