Pro Farm Tractors at NC State Fair at Raleigh NC October 16 2022

Ken McDonald got in the seat of Revvelation and just barely. Looking at the photos it reminds me of that scene from Tommy Boy with Tommy Callahan in Richard's little blazer. So the tractor went 292 feet under competition. Ken made it go ~298 feet. So the kids are chasing 6 feet somewhere, somehow, and they will find it along the way.
But it was good to see Ken back in the seat. Come on kids, we are rooting for you!

Modified Tractors at NC State Fair at Raleigh NC October 16 2022

Len Brookhart is the only puller in America to feature a radial engine. And he is the coolest cucumber of a fellow you have ever met. He is a multi-year points champion with the East Coast Pro-Pulling league. I don't think people understand this engine. But his crew of Mike Mills, Jeff Paulding, and all completely understand this machine. If you have questions, ask, they know them. Trust me. I chose Len for the Sunday thumbnail because he is a heckuva good guy.

Modified 4x4 Trucks at NC State Fair at Raleigh NC October 16 2022

This kid, Mason Brizendine, has pulled more distance in the dirt over by the track than most pullers pull in their life. He has grown up watching the best pullers in the country come to his home track and he holds his head up high and looks them right in the eye and busts their chops just like a veteran puller would.
Now to the current times, Mason went to Raleigh and performed a clean sweep in the Modified 4x4 class. And John Nicol got his interview skills honed over the years. This was a weekend to remember for young Mason and there will be more to follow, I promise you that much.

J.R. Collins has passed away

On Saturday, September 24, the world of tractor pulling was informed about the death of Semi competitor J.R. Collins of Painesville, Ohio at the age of 82. J.R. was a multiple NTPA Grand National Champion in the 20000lbs Super Semi class with his Mack semi-truck called ''Buckeye Bulldog''. He won his first NTPA GN title in 1994, and the second followed a year later in 1995. Then he had to wait for over a decade to win his next 2 NTPA titles. That was in 2008 and 2009. In his 33 years of competition, J.R. has won 6 National titles with his Super Semi Mack and was known in the whole US Pulling scene. But not only in the US.
In 2006, J.R. was invited for the first and only time with his Buckeye Bulldog to a pull across the pond. That was the 28th European Superpull in Ahoy, Rotterdam, the Netherlands. J.R. did some show pulls there, to show the spectators the differences between the US and European Semi pulling. Since that, he was also better known in the European Pulling scene. In 2018 after all his successes in the sport, J.R. Collins also was inducted into the NTPA Hall of Fame.

With the sudden passing of J.R. Collins, the pulling sport has lost another great ambassador and supporter. He will be missed by everyone in the future.
