The german as well as the dutch board are full with discussion about limits and the 4.5t class.
I have a proposal here:
We leave the 2.5t alone for the next three years (I think it's in good shape as long as the weight stays were it is. Whether it's limited or not shouldn't make much difference).
We change the 3.5t into an 3.6t unlimited (like in the USA).
Leave the 4.5t alone
Put both classes into the Euro Cup 2011 and let promoters decide which class they want. Problem should then solve itsself within 3 years...

Hi Sascha,
honestly I feel that the limits are fine on the engines. We should maybe tweak the weight a bit.
2.5t -> 2.6t with current 2.5t limits. Makes no difference, since the light guys still are going to be kicking booty, and the guys screaming for more weight are getting their will (not that it will matter any).
3.5t -> go to 3.3t, with current 3.5t limits. Pretty much any 3.5t tractor today should be able to make weight, and my main reason for this is even intervals.
4.5t -> 4.0t with current 4.5 limits. Pretty close to the US unlimiteds in horsepower (and I know we are heavy, but it's always been that way). And it will make an amazing show, with less transmission parts being blown up.
What do you think?
Best regards/

I don't get who is crying for more weight in 2.5t?
Only those who have not spend any work into their rearends and those who are getting in trouble with the front end weight limiting the power they can put to the ground.
To those I can only say: Get your ass to the drawing board!
3.5t at present is ... sorta obsolete. Either you play big -> go 4.5t or an unlimited route
Or you play smart, go 2.5t.
Turning it into an unlimited would be easy, as it doesn't involve any major changes to the tractors concerning weight, but would allow for creating horsepower. E.g. for some of the twin Griffon Teams. Also all those who cry for US standards here, can then show how good they really are under US standards.
4 ton is total nonsense:
A) it's an artificial class that nobody ever runs. For the V12 guys it doesn't make any sense at all (3.6t you can do with 2 Griffons or 3 Allisons) and will cost a bunch of 4.5t teams who currently strongly support the European Scene a bunch of money.
If you blow up your driveline at 4.5t .... sorry, but that's fixable and fixing stuff and finding better solutions is and has always been part of the game.
