The new Red Impact Component Farm Stock

From Zijderveld in the Netherlands, the Red Impact Pulling Team has built an almost completely new IH 1066 4.5t / 9260lbs component farm stock tractor during the last winter. After 14 years with an IH 1086 in the Dutch Championship of the 4.5t farm stock class, the team sold the old Red Impact to Kevin Carnegie from Brechin in Scotland at the end of 2018. The new name of the tractor is ''Xtreme Force'' now.
But why have the Red Impact Team decided to build a new tractor on component basic?
They believe that a component tractor has a better balance at 3200rpm. The Dutch organization NTTO has decided to increase the rpm limit for the 4.5t farm stock class in the Netherlands for 2020.
In the summer of 2018, the Dutch team started with the parts sourcing for the new project and also asked the Rocky Pulling Team from Hoeven in the Netherlands about components for a new component chassis. One thing led to another and Barend Huijbregts made them an offer to purchase his Rocky component pro stock tractor at the end of the 2018 season.
After short negotiations, the Zijderveld based team decided to purchase the IH 1066 machine. The Rocky Pulling Team was pretty successful with the IH 1066 in the past. During the last 9 years with the component pro stock, they achieved a couple of Dutch Championships, 1 European Championship and 2 Euro Cup titles. The guys purchased the old pro stock without the engine, transmission, clutch and the rear wheels.
On the 10th of November 2018, the old Rocky finally arrived in the Red Impact workshop. Shortly after the arriving, the team started with the building of the new Red Impact 2.0 farm stock tractor.
The new Red Impact has a steel wedge frame with a chrome-moly roll cage, a Kirkey Racing driver seat, a homemade hydraulic steering with Vetus parts, steel wheelie bars and a new sheet metal rear end with a completely new constructed drawbar.
The hood and the fenders on the tractor based on the IH 1066 model. The hood and the fenders were built of aluminum sheet metal and are lighter than the original steel sheet metal stuff. Those fenders and the hood were built by the Rocky Pulling Team in the past. Only the cooler grill on the hood is still an original IH part.
The chassis with the sheet metal rear end is much lighter compared to their old IH 1086 tractor with the stock cast rear end and the original gearbox housing. Also, the engine's position and the driver´s position on the component chassis is more forward and the center of gravity is lower. With the new lighter chassis they have much more possibilities for moveable weight, which allows them to find a better balance for every track conditions. For the optimum grip on every track in Holland and Europe, they have purchased a set of new Firestone 24.5 x 32 Puller 2000HP tires with new polished Keizer Wheels aluminum rims from the John Deere Pulling Team in Thy, Denmark. The new tires were cut by the John Deere Pulling Team too.
The new sheet metal rear end received a stock Rockwell center section with a homemade aluminum differential, a Rockwell ring and pinion gear, billet steel half shafts, Franklin magnesium planetaries carrier housing with Franklin planetaries and Wilwood brake calipers with steel brake rotors from the USA.
Completely new in the tractor is the driveline. The driveline got a new 3-speed transmission with a new custom built steel driveshaft between the clutch and the gearbox, a new 12.5 inch Molinari centrifugal clutch with 5 discs by DB Engine & Parts from the Netherlands and an aluminum flywheel from Van der Waal Pulling Parts in Hoeven, the Netherlands. The new clutch is protected by a custom built bell housing from Van der Waal Pulling Parts.
The new driveline was developed, calculated and built by the Dutch company called ''JGGH Engine & Parts Solution'' from Kootwijkerbroek. The new transmission has a CNC-machined aluminum housing with custom built shafts and gears.
Many of the new parts on the tractor, like on the engine and the driveline are specially made for more reliability
After the work on the chassis etc. were done, the tractor went to the painter to receive his new color. Autoschade Pavijen from Culemborg and MW Designs from Schjndel in the Netherlands did the paint job on the tractor. The new great design for the new Red Impact 2.0 component farm stock tractor was done M2iD (pullingart.nl) from Sprundel in the Netherlands. M2iD also did the design for the old Red Impact tractor in the past.
The new Red Impact 2.0 is powered by an IH DT 468 6 cylinder engine with a displacement of 8.3l on diesel fuel. The DT 468 power plants were used in different IH stock tractors, like in the IH 3488 tractors or in the Case W30 wheel loaders.
The engine in the old tractor was a little bit bigger and had a displacement of 9l.
But that should be no problem for the team to get the same hp out of the 8.3l engine like at the old 9l engine.
The power plant received a machined DT 468 cast iron block with WKM Cornelisse Diesel Spare Parts sleeves, a billet steel crankshaft from Van der Waal Pulling Parts with billet aluminum rods and pistons from KMB (Koebrugge Metaal Bewerking), a revised stock IH 468 cylinder head by HMT Power Parts with new better valves and valve spring from Post & Dros in Dronten, the Netherlands, a billet camshaft by De Jong Auto's en Techniek from the
Netherlands, a Holset HX82 turbocharger, a homemade aluminium intake manifold and stainless steel exhaust manifold build by WKM Cornelisse Diesel Spare Part, a billet diesel fuel injection pump by STEJO/Van der Steeg from the Netherlands, a homemade oil pan, a Aviaid oil pump, a homemade stainless steel fuel tank, a homemade aluminum air/water intercooler and Racepak IQ3 data logger.
The Dutch team competes in the Dutch Championship and in the Euro Challenge for farm stock tractors this year. The maiden run of the new Red Impact 2.0 was in Wekerom, the Netherlands at the end of April. The first competition for the new tractor wasn't so successful. Because of tricky track conditions, the new machine came to 87.18m, which was enough only for the 12th place in the end.
In Loerbeek the start was much better compared to the pull in Wekerom. From the start on the IH 1066 had a good speed but at around 60m the boost pressure of the turbo broke in. In Wekerom they suffered the same problem. The first real breakthrough for the team was in Stroe, a great 3rd place behind the John Deere called ''Simply Green'' and the IH 1066 called ''Peeters''. Currently, the main problem on the tractor is to get turbocharger turning with the fast gear in the transmission from start to finish, but they are on the right way now to get this problem solved for the future. Another plan of the team is to have good results with the new tractor in the future.
