After many successes and also some bad luck the British team around European super stock veteran Peter Clarke decided to sell the tractor to a new owner last year. The new owner of the Case IH component machine is Kim Andersen, the former owner of the unfinished turbocharged twin Rover V12 powered 5500lbs / 2.5t light modified tractor called ''Gladiator'' from Ejstrupholm, Vejle in Denmark. After the light mod was sold, Kim looked for a new ready to run pulling tractor and found one which was for sale in that time. Peter Clarke made him a good offer for his Red Fever and after some negotiations, the Dane decided to purchase the super stock from him.
the ETPC decided to allow component tractors in the super stock class for 2004, Peter Clarke, Geoff Ashcroft and the rest of the team started to build the Red Fever in his workshop during the winter / spring of 2003. The machine received a steel tube frame with a homemade 3 bar steel roll cage, an OMP Racing driver seat with a 4 point harness, a hydraulic steering, a Rockwell rear end with Franklin planetaries and a set of cut Firestone Puller 2000 10Ply (now HP) tires on polished Midwest aluminum rims. For the basis of the tube chassis and the rear end, Peter purchased the old Limited Edition light mod chassis of the Williams brothers from Great Britain. The tractor also got a Profab 4-speed transmission with custom-built driveshaft between the clutch and the transmission and a Crower centrifugal clutch with 4 discs.
During the building process of the new ride, the Red Alert Team was supported by Case IH UK.
So the tractor received at that time a current Case IH Magnum MX 285 hood and fenders.
The Case IH Magnum MX 285 stock tractor was introduced by the US company in 2002 and was built in Racine, USA until 2005. The machine had a Powershift transmission with 18 forward and 4 reverse gears, a 4 wheel drive system and a turbocharged inline 6 cylinder Cummins C6TAA-8.3 engine with 8.3l displacement on diesel fuel. The Cummins engine had 287hp with a torque of 1410Nm at 1400rpm. The MX 285 was the biggest tractor of the Magnum series by Case IH at that time.
The current engine in the Red Fever is a turbocharged IH DT466 engine with a displacement of 600cui / 9.8l on alcohol fuel. The powerplant has a machined IH DT466 block with billet steel sleeves, a Van der Waal Pulling Parts billet aluminum cylinder head with a billet steel camshaft, a Van der Waal Pulling Parts billet steel crankshaft with billet aluminum rods and pistons, a homemade intake and exhaust manifold, 3 Holset turbochargers in 2 stages, a Van der Waal Pulling Parts fuel system with a Waterman fuel pump, a Aviaid oil pump and a MSD 8 Plus ignition.
The IH engine should make around 3500-3800hp at 6500rpm with this 3 Holset charger setup.
The Red Fever had his maiden run during the summer of 2003 and ran very well and in the middle of November 2003, the new tractor was on exhibition at the Agritechnica in Hannover, Germany on the booth of Case IH.
From 2003 to 2019, the Clarke Pulling Team achieved lots of success with the Case IH magnum component super stock machine. They won many National and International pulls with the tractor in the past, like 3 times the European Superpull in Ahoy Rotterdam in 2006, 2008 and 2012. The British Team also achieved a couple of British Championship titles, finished 3rd at the EC in 2004 and 2012 in Füchtorf, Germany, runner up at the EC 2010 in Ekerod, Sweden and 2 times 3rd in the Euro Cup point standings in 2006 and 2008.
Kim Andersen will compete with his new component super stock tractor in the Danish Championship and on some pulls outside of Denmark in 2020.
