The tractor pulling event in Bakel, the Netherlands which was planned for the 29th and 30th August 2020 was canceled due to uncertainty whether larger meetings and events can be held in August without health risks.
The official statement from the organization:
Bakel, April 2020
The board of Tractorpulling Bakel has decided not to proceed with the preparations for the 2020 edition competition and to cancel the event that was scheduled for Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th August.
This is a well-considered choice. At the moment there is too much uncertainty whether larger meetings and events can be held in August without health risks. The last thing we want is to endanger our volunteers, participants, and visitors. Preventing health risks is our top priority.
To organize a great event, there should now be plenty of meetings and we should start approaching sponsors. Where the urgent motto is to stay at home, the board, therefore, does not now come together to organize an event. At the same time, in these uncertain and confusing times, where all attention must be paid to the many sick and deceased due to the coronavirus and those facing this crisis, it is morally irresponsible to knock on the door of companies for a sponsor contribution. Entrepreneurs currently have other things on their minds.
